Easter Bible Study:  The Cross in the Nativity Scene

Easter Bible Study - The Cross in the Nativity Scene

In your Easter Bible Study this year, take an extra plunge. Go deep into God's word and discover how the Cross applies to our beloved Nativity Scene and how it applies it to our lives.

There are no two scenes more cherished by Believers than the beloved Nativity Scene and the three crosses on the Hill of Golgotha.

Why, do you suppose, we are drawn so compassionately to these images; one depicting our spiritual rebirth and the other depicting a loving sacrifice beyond comprehension made by the very Son of God.

These two separate scenes can soften the hardest of hearts and dampen the eyes of the strongest of men.

Our faith reaches to the outer limits as we stand at the Old Rugged Cross believing that he died for us and was resurrected.  We reach a spiritual high on Easter Sunday that literally leaves us strung out on Monday.

We peer at the Nativity scene, fully believing a virgin can give birth to the very Son of God.  Just by glancing at these two scenes, we muster a mustard seed.  We're so drawn to them separately; so mesmerized.

But, what for the rest of the year?  What happens to that overwhelming faith we have at Christmas and Easter?

It was the cross that brought the beloved Jesus into this world and it was the cross that enabled Him to heal the sick, raise the dead and walk on water.

It is the cross that gives us the ability to believe in these two scenes.  We have put to death our knowledge of the world and submitted to God's word enough to believe in His birth, death and resurrection.  We've gone that far with the cross and we must go further in order to realize our full potential as the Body of Christ.  Total submission to God - The Cross.

It is the cross that will enable us to live out our faith throughout the rest of the year.

Combine the two scenes.  Include Mary and Joseph in your Easter Bible study this year.  Learn how they put to death their knowledge of the world, and through total submission, brought something new and beautiful into it.  Learn how you can and should do the same.
