Hunting Season

Hunting season is in full swing again.  I'm not a hunter, but I do love nature.  I love animals.  I love to watch them, learn about their habitats and how they fit into the bigger picture around them.  I see miracle after miracle watching each different species blend so intricately into the ecosystem around it; each with its very special purpose.

No, I'm no hunter, so to speak, but what I do hunt, I find!

Deer in Golden Grass

I find a lonely hawk soaring above my home each day looking for his evening meal.   I find aunts, dragging objects several times their size from one end of my patio to the other; they're keeping it clean. I find the first delicate hummingbird returning in late Spring; so, so beautiful.

I find deer, prancing through a golden field, even though they are almost completely camouflaged by the tall grasses surrounding them.   I wonder if anyone else saw them.  Was anyone else hunting?

I find these things, because I hunt for these things.

I find beauty in these things, because I hunt for beauty in these things.

I find miracles in these things, because I hunt for God in these things.

Matt 7:7-8
7 "Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. 8 For everyone who asks receives; he who seeks finds; and to him who knocks, the door will be opened.  (NIV)

My life is not perfect, but I see perfection on the horizon.  I see light at the end of the tunnel.  I see this, because when my work day is done, my real hunting season begins.  I open my Bible and hunt for truth, I hunt for healing and happiness.  I find it.  Is anyone else hunting?
