...Jim skillfully weaves together sharp wisdom, pointed insights, and practical challenges for couples to consider...

Jim Hughes graduated from Bethel College in Mishawaka, IN in 1970 with a B.A. in Biblical Literature and a minor in Pastoral Theology.  He was ordained in the General Conference Churches of God

He served as pastor in various churches across denominational lines for the past 40 years, and is very happily married to his wife, Jan, for 36 years.

Jim and Jan have two adult married children and one son still at home whom we adopted several years ago.

Excerpt from "C Through Marriage" by Jim Hughes

Marriage is often described as a journey, an adventure, a setting sail for two people who’ve fallen madly in love and happily tied the knot. No doubt marriage is a setting sail; the only problem is that word happily. As a young pastor who has already spent much time counseling couples preparing for marriage, I can think of no better place to begin than where Jim has started his book:

Being married does not necessarily mean that we will always live “happily ever after.” We wish it were so, but life is not like that. Life has its ups and downs. There are many good times and there are times in which life is not so good. Calamity happens to everybody sooner or later. Unfortunately today, many couples exert far more energy and effort in preparing for the wedding than for the marriage. Couples have the naïve idea that after the wedding, life will fall naturally into place, with the only argument being whether to squirt the tube of toothpaste from the top or bottom.

Jim’s book wonderfully dispels the myths of marriage and forces couples to look at it honestly and accurately...
