Searching for the Secrets of Love?
If you are looking for the secrets of love, look no more. It's
really no mystery at all. Stop looking in all the wrong places and
look deep inside of you. The love you have within, is the love
that is going to come out!
The Spiritual Health Source authors are a married couple with a lot
of love for each other. We discussed this topic and decided that,
while we are not experts in marriage counseling, and we are not perfect,
we do know some of the secrets of love. These are some "musts"
that we practice in our home and we highly recommend them for yours.
1. Work on Yourself to Close the Gap Between You and Your
Significant Other.
 |
First and Foremost - Change your Focus.
Focus on Jesus - The Word of God. As both of you grow
closer to Him, the distance between you will get smaller!
How? Again, He was the Word of God in the flesh, right?
So, start by reading The Word of God.
2. Live Forgiven and Forgive Each Other
Face it. Nobody is perfect. Accept the forgiveness that
God has freely given to you and give that gift to others. Both
your relationship with your significant other AND your relationship with
God depend on it:
|
- Mat 6:14 "For if you forgive others for their transgressions,
your heavenly Father will also forgive you.
Once you learn to live forgiven, you will no longer feel the need to
hold on to the wrongs others have done to you. Why? You no
longer need an excuse for your own behavior.
If you'll simply apologize when you are wrong and work on your own
behavior you will find the secrets of love.
You absolutely must choose to forgive and live forgiven (and it is
your choice). Without this vital step, you cannot have a direct
relationship with God.
Without a direct relationship with God, you cannot be complete.
3. Think of Others More than Yourself.
Unwrap the secrets of love by putting others in front of yourself.
Do it and see what love it brings back to you. Of course, we're
going to say it again. Both your relationship with your
significant other AND your relationship with God depend on it:
- John 15:12-14 "This is My commandment, that you love one
another, just as I have loved you. "Greater love has no one than
this, that one lay down his life for his friends. "You are My
friends if you do what I command you.
4. Husbands, It Starts with You!
- Eph 5:33 Nevertheless, each individual among you also is to love
his own wife even as himself, and the wife must see to it that she
respects her husband.
Treat your wife as Christ treats you. She will respect and love
you in return. How can you do this without getting to know Jesus?
You can't, so repeat step one and all else will follow!
Spouse not willing? Do it anyway. Once they see Jesus in
you, they will want to follow your lead.
