There is Victory in the Cross

I know you have heard about the victory in the cross, but do you understand how it works? It is difficult to truly grasp what Jesus did for us on the cross.  Before you read on, read the Deliverance Prayer once again, truly asking God to open the eyes to your heart.

Many Christians, especially those who are new and those who have returned, find themselves trying to earn a position in the Kingdom of God.  The struggle to earn a seat, only brings failure and in many cases, the young believer falls away.  The struggle stops in step one.  The position is already earned and the work already done.  Your job is to believe that there is victory in the cross.

In Christ, I died on the cross almost 2000 years ago. My oppression and addictions died with me.  I need do nothing more, in Christ.

In Christ, I was buried in the the tomb almost 2000 years ago; my sins were buried with me. I need do nothing more, in Christ.

In Christ, I was resurrected from spiritual death almost 2000 years ago; cleansed from the past and ready for a new beginning, face-to-face with Jehovah.  I need do nothing more, in Christ!

What does "In Christ" mean and how do I get there?

Two of the key verses in the first three chapters of Ephesians:

Eph 1:13
13 And you also were included in Christ when you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation.

Eph 2:13
13 But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far away have been brought near through the blood of Christ. (NIV)

You were included in Christ when you heard and believed the word of truth.  Now, in Christ you are reconciled with God.  You didn't have to earn it then, and you don't have to struggle to maintain it now. It was a gift, bought and paid for through the blood of Christ.
Recommended Reading:  Sit-Walk-Stand by Watchman Nee.  A tiny book packed full of victory, all based on the book of Ephesians.  The first step to freedom is to Sit (In Christ)!

Eph 2:6 And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus:

This step is where I personally struggle and I imagine you do as well.  To grasp this concept a bit further, read what Jesus says about being In Christ.
